Stories are made up of words. Learn how to use them.

It may seem obvious, but I believe it’s one of those obvious things we often miss: to become a great storyteller, you must be adept with words. I love this quote from an author I highly admire: “Above all things, desire to be a wordsmith.”

We don’t like to hear it, but the main way we learn how to use words well is to use them often. A daily writing habit has more health and career benefits than most other activities.

  • Writing focuses your mind and helps you think more clearly

  • Writing organizes your activities and priorities so you use time more efficiently

  • Writing helps you to process your emotions, leading to less stress

  • Writing opens you up to receiving new ideas and inspiration

  • Writing hones your way with words and makes you a more exciting storyteller

  • Writing strengthens your ability to communicate and persuade others

We discuss all these and more in the Hemingway Course at The Story Garden. Make sure you come to the next one!
